TWO STUDIOS ONE ARCHITECTURAL PRACTICE.

STUDIO MICHA GAMPER is an architecture and interior design practice with studios in Altstätten, Switzerland, and London, UK, creating carefully crafted, sophisticated architecture rooted in context, material and detail.

Working from both locations, the studio develops projects across Switzerland, the UK and internationally, spanning a range of programmes and scales — from residential architecture and new buildings to renovations, extensions, interiors and furniture.

ALTSTÄTTEN · LONDON
The practice has a presence in both Altstätten and London, bringing together local knowledge, international experience and a shared approach to architectural design.

The Swiss studio is based in Altstätten, where Micha Gamper grew up, and works across the St. Gallen Rhine Valley, Eastern Switzerland and beyond. The London studio continues the practice's longstanding connection to the city and its international architectural culture.

Both studios operate as part of a single practice, with the same ambition for clear architectural ideas, precise design, thoughtful detailing and a high level of craftsmanship.

APPROACH
The studio was founded by architect Micha Gamper following ten years at David Chipperfield Architects in London, where he worked across a range of international projects and developed a rigorous approach to design.

We approach each project as an opportunity to develop a clear and carefully considered architectural idea — from the overall character of a building to the smallest detail. Context, proportion, light, material and construction are considered as part of a coherent whole, with particular attention given to how spaces are experienced and how they are made.

Our work is characterised by a commitment to precise design, thoughtful detailing and a high level of craftsmanship. Whether working on a new building, a transformation of an existing structure or an interior, we seek to create architecture that is distinctive, enduring and carefully resolved.

MATERIAL & CRAFT
We seek to create spaces that are beautiful, practical, sustainable and enduring. Atmosphere, materiality and craftsmanship are central to the studio’s approach.

Working closely with local craftsmen and specialist fabricators, each project is developed through a shared commitment to quality, precision and longevity. The relationship between design and making is considered throughout the process, from the overall architectural concept to the smallest junction.

PROJECTS
Our projects range from new buildings and adaptive reuse to renovations, interiors and furniture. Each responds carefully to its context — its place, culture, environment and particular conditions — while seeking a clear architectural identity of its own.

Across different scales and programmes, the ambition remains consistent: to make thoughtful, precise and enduring architecture.
